About the role
A high-growth voice artificial intelligence startup is seeking a Founding Commercial Counsel to establish and lead its legal function as the company's first senior legal hire. The successful candidate will work closely with the sales organisation on complex enterprise software transactions, establish core contract frameworks and negotiation playbooks, and advise on key regulatory and commercial considerations surrounding voice AI, privacy, and telecommunications compliance.
What we are looking for
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in the California State Bar. • 6+ years of commercial and technology transactions experience, or 4+ years within a technology transactions practice group at a top-tier law firm. • Extensive direct experience drafting and negotiating enterprise agreements, MSAs, and DPAs end-to-end. • Familiarity with privacy and AI regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, EU AI Act, and TCPA. • Demonstrated ability to build legal templates, playbooks, and processes from the ground up in a zero-to-one startup environment. • Ability to work in-office on a 996 schedule (5 days per week, Monday–Friday, plus one weekend day).
Compensation
$230,000 – $270,000 base salary
