About the role
A high-growth, venture-backed artificial intelligence business is seeking a Corporate Counsel to serve as its first dedicated in-house legal counsel. Reporting directly to the executive leadership team, the role will take primary ownership of the company's commercial contracting function during a period of rapid scale. Core responsibilities include drafting, negotiating, and redlining a high volume of commercial agreements—such as MSAs, SOWs, data licensing arrangements, and DPAs—while refining contracting playbooks and collaborating cross-functionally across internal business units. The position offers significant scope to flex into adjacent areas, including employment law and governance, as the organization develops.
What we are looking for
- 3 to 6 years of relevant legal experience, with an emphasis on commercial contracts. - Prior in-house experience within an early-stage or venture-backed startup environment (Series A to Series D). - Demonstrable proficiency in leveraging modern technology and AI tools within legal workflows. - Adaptable, commercially minded, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with expanding responsibilities.
Compensation
$225,000 - $250,000 base salary
