About the role
A boutique international law firm recognised for its impact investing practice is seeking a Funds Partner or Of Counsel to join its collaborative team in New York. The role entails independently leading private fund formations, advising fund sponsors, emerging managers, and institutional investors on fund structuring and regulatory matters, and supporting an expanding client base. The firm offers an entrepreneurial environment with a modest 1,400 billable hour requirement and significant upside potential.
What we are looking for
• 10–15+ years of investment funds experience, specifically in private fund formation, gained within a reputable large or mid-sized law firm (major law firm background required) • Proven ability to lead and execute fund formations independently with minimal supervision • J.D. and admission to at least one US state bar (New York preferred) • Minimal in-house experience (no more than approximately one year) • A portable client base (1–2 client relationships) is advantageous, though not mandatory for candidates with exceptional technical ability
Compensation
$250,000 - $400,000 base salary depending on experience and portable book of business, alongside a tiered bonus structure linked to hours and origination credits (starting at 20%).
