About the role
A leading national US law firm is seeking a mid-level corporate associate to join its corporate practice in New York. The role entails taking ownership of private equity and strategic investor transactions from term sheet through to closing, drafting and negotiating transactional documents, and managing due diligence and closing processes. The successful candidate will work directly with founders, CEOs, and C-suite executives in an entrepreneurial, hands-on environment with high partner and client interaction.
What we are looking for
- 4-7 years of corporate transactional experience with a focus on private equity and M&A transactions. - Demonstrated experience taking substantive responsibility on closed transactions. - Admitted to the New York Bar or eligible for admission. - Law school GPA of approximately 3.0 or higher with strong legal writing capability. - Steady tenure with a detailed transaction record. - Cross-border deal experience, fund formation background, or portable client relationships are advantageous.
Compensation
$250,000 - $290,000 base salary (merit-based, non-lockstep). Hours bonuses tiered every 25 hours above the 1,900-hour billable threshold (up to 2,300 hours); 10% fee origination bonus for fees collected over $10,000.
